The Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies (CCCS) was established on November 2001. The CCCS is the first Cultural Studies institution in China. By analyzing cultural conditions in Shanghai and other similar places since the 1990s, we attempt to understand the dominant culture and its production in contemporary China and the multiple relationships between such a dominant culture and the "socialist history" of China. With our research, we hope to provide constructive suggestions and further facilitate positive changes in Chinese cultures.
