In China, unlike in most of countries in the world, the on-line literature has been prosperous, and a large number of on-line literature writers, readers, works and websites have already emerged It is no doubt that the on-line literature has changed and will continuously change the Chinese culture and literature In order to understand the details of the Chinese online literature and literary production mechanism, I chose and searched two well-known large-scale literary websites: RongShuXia and QiDian Chinese Network I believe that the observation and the comparison of these two sites will help us understand the birth, the current status and the historical changes

This paper starts from the analysis of a letter appeared on China Youth titled So far, So narrow：My Road of Life on 5,1980, with the pseudo-name Pan Xiao Tracing back her life experience in Mao’s China, Pan announced in this letter explicitly her disillusionment about the idealism she once embraced whole-heartedly While at the same time, she is influenced by her structure of psyche which is deeply shaped by the very idealism she now does not believe Thus comes the dilemma of Pan Xiao: on the one hand, the idealism of Mao’s time becomes notorious, and on the other hand, Pan is very thirsty for some new ideal for substitution, but what kind of ideal?

This thesis attempts to examine the resistance culture of Chinese punk through specifically looking at the case of the cultural practices of the punk bands and musicians in the city of Wuhan There have been growing studies on contemporary Chinese rock music culture However, most studies focus on treating the Chinese rock music culture as merely a production of Western pop culture influence Based on the case of Wuhan punk cultural practices, this thesis argues that the rock music cultural practices in China have provided their own critical responses, however limited, to the contemporary social issues The Chinese punk cultural practices can be viewed as a culture of resistance
